All Girls, But Not Only Girls

To us, single sex doesn’t mean entirely separate. Thanks to our Coordinate Program with St. Alban’s School for boys, which is located just on the other side of the Cathedral, students in both schools have meaningful coeducational opportunities.

In Lower School, girls and boys perform together in string and wind ensembles. In Middle School, we add coed drama classes and theatrical productions.

In Upper School, all art classes and performances are coordinate, along with English classes for Grades 11-12, many electives, and some sports.

In every division, students benefit from access to our combined resources, including expert faculty and facilities, like the pool and the tennis courts.

How Parents Experience NCS

To ensure that NCS parents feel a sense of welcome and connection with the school and with each other, the school encourages parents to explore the many ways to get involved as community members. Examples include attending grade- or division-level informational parent coffees, volunteering with fellow parents on a Parents Association committee to host or to support an event, serving as a class agent for the Purple & Gold Fund, or participating in parent education events. Parents are encouraged to attend monthly Parents Association Meetings, that are offered both via Zoom and in-person, which feature presentations by NCS program and administrative leaders and members of their teams, as well as a chance to meet others and chat over coffee. 
 

While Lower School parents develop lasting connections serving as chaperones or planning class parties, Middle and Upper School parents often bond along the sidelines at games or attending student rehearsals and performances as their students explore their own areas of interest and choose to commit to specific activities. 

Our hope is that NCS parents, through engaging in ways that are both meaningful and manageable, develop a sense of belonging in, pride in, and positive partnership with our community.
