The tradition of philanthropy runs deep at NCS, beginning with Phoebe Hearst’s foundational gift in 1893. Today, we salute our supporters who–through their steadfast generosity–amplify the NCS experience, unleash boundless possibilities for our students, and sustain our school.
Leadership
At NCS we recognize our philanthropic leaders through two societies, the Satterlee Society and the Phoebe Hearst Society.
The Satterlee Society recognizes donors who contribute $2,500 or more annually. This community of more than 250 philanthropic leaders accounts for 85% of our annual philanthropic support. Members are recognized in our Report on Philanthropy and receive special event invitations and newsletters throughout the year.
Satterlee Membership Levels:
Founder Circle: $100,000 +
Head of School Circle: $50,000 - $99,999
Scholar Circle: $25,000 - $49,999
Whitby Circle: $10,000 - $24,999
Eagle Circle: $5,000 - $9,999
Member Circle: $2,500 - $4,999
The Phoebe Hearst Society, established in 2025, upholds the highest tradition of support for young women, with members’ lifetime generosity manifested in philanthropic gifts exceeding $1 million.
Loyalty
The 1900 Society honors donors who have made NCS a regular philanthropic priority by giving for three or more consecutive years. The constancy and generosity of these donors enhance our ability to plan for the future and speak to an ongoing belief in the power of young women. They are gratefully recognized each year in the Report on Philanthropy.

Legacy
The Cornerstone Society recognizes the 200+ donors who have named NCS in their long-term financial or estate plans. These NCS alumnae, parents, grandparents, faculty/staff, and friends provide for the long-term health of NCS, while making financial planning decisions that often yield significant benefits for themselves and/or their families.
