Strength and Conditioning

Our NCS Strength and Conditioning Department seeks to support our sports teams by:

  • Improving athletic performance by developing programs specific to each of our sports teams through gradual progression of training intensity;
  • Decreasing the potential for injury through evidence-based team workouts, dynamic warm-ups, and cool down stretching routines; and
  • Providing a variety of nutritional information and guidance to improve physical and mental preparation for our students.

Individualized Fitness

At NCS, we believe students benefit when they engage in both study and exercise. Physical activity helps to develop neural pathways, while reducing stress and building physical strength, so every day our students are moving: playing, exercising, having fun, and learning in the process.

Our physical education curriculum includes several non-competitive, non-team athletics options:

  • Personal fitness classes;
  • Running classes,
  • Climbing and paddling through the Voyageur Program; and
  • Hip-hop dance, Cathedral dance, Broadway dance, Pilates, and yoga through our Dance Department.

In these classes, students learn to understand their bodies while pushing physical limits and adapting to challenges. This type of training helps them to build resilience, harness their individual power and strength, and learn how physical exploration will help them with their mental health and well-being.

Individualized fitness is a life skill, and we are proud of the hundreds of alumni who have discovered a love of exercise at NCS and have made it a positive part of their daily lives.
