For more than 50 years, students in the Voyageur program have gained technical expertise in both indoor and outdoor rock climbing, and whitewater kayaking. Voyageur makes use of facilities on the Close, including NCS's 50-foot freestanding climbing wall, as well as on the nearby Potomac River. Fifthand sixth graders are introduced to Voyageur skills in P.E. class. Starting in Middle School, students can satisfy their athletic requirement with Voyageur, offered as a coed program with St. Albans. Upper School participants typically earn their belay licenses, practicing on NCS’s wall and local cliffs.
