MS Mathematics

  • Accelerated Algebra 1

Accelerated Algebra 1 proceeds at a faster pace than Algebra 1 and treats topics in greater depth, with an emphasis on independence in problem-solving. Topics include linear equations and inequalities, systems of linear equations, exponents and radicals, polynomials, factoring, linear and quadratic functions, and rational expressions. There is an emphasis on the basic language, concepts, and skills of algebra while integrating ideas in geometry, statistics, and probability.

  • Pre-Algebra

Students consolidate number skills and introduce new concepts and methods in algebra and other branches of mathematics, with an emphasis on the development of mathematical problem-solving techniques. Additionally, the course aims to reinforce interdisciplinary skills in note taking, communication and reflection, collaboration, and the use of technology. Differentiation within the classroom allows students to pursue work appropriate to their level through optional challenge problems and tasks.
