Neighborhood Relations

Our Commitment

Since our inception in 1900, National Cathedral School (NCS) has been at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Woodley Road NW, and we have seen the neighborhood grow around us with the arrival of generations of families. We are proud of these deep neighborhood roots. At NCS, we commit to be not only a friendly neighbor but also an intentional community partner.

Neighborhood Engagement

NCS sustains our community connection by facilitating conversation with neighbors about developments that affect us all.
A Neighborhood Liaison Committee, open to all, meets quarterly. This group provides an opportunity to discuss questions or concerns related to school operations.
An Athletic Center Advisory Committee meets twice a year to review specific operations at that facility. As specified by order of the D.C. Zoning Commission, The Committee is made up of representatives of neighboring community groups, NCS, and the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF).

Visit Us

NCS is located on property owned by the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation, our parent organization. Neighbors are welcome to walk through and enjoy these beautiful grounds, which are maintained by the volunteers of the All Hallows Guild and PECF staff. While NCS facilities, including the Athletic Center, are closed to the public, neighbors can rent their use. Visit for more information.

Hear From Us

Sign up for periodic email updates specifically for our neighbors by emailing We’ll share information about upcoming events, including Neighborhood Liaison Committee meetings, and other school items of community interest.

Community Service

NCS contributes to the life of the District through a wide range of community service projects that involve every student and most faculty and staff during their time at NCS. Service is a core value of the school, and our alumnae carry forward the civic engagement they experience at NCS throughout their adult lives.
