  • Ethics

What is my responsibility to others? To explore this question, the class offers a framework for thinking about ethical decisions. Students will become more aware of the values they hold that shape their decisions. Through engagement with current events, short stories, videos, and service, students will examine ethical issues common in teenage life and the wider world. Class also includes time for mindfulness practice. At the end of the course, students will have a greater awareness of ethical issues and ideas for engagement with these issues.
  • Religious Studies 7: Reading the Cathedral

In this course, students use the Washington National Cathedral as a source to explore sacred architecture and examine elements of the Christian story.  Included in this course is a study of the development of Gothic architecture in medieval Europe and the construction of a modern cathedral, and an exploration of how the Cathedral depicts the story of Jesus and highlights contemporary human rights leaders. Students interpret and design iconography for the Cathedral. Class also includes time for mindfulness practice.
