NCS Rallies for Five Second Half Goals

The Eagles found themselves down 1-0 at halftime for the first time this season, to the Potomac School Panthers. With 40 minutes to play, the Eagles decided to take the game into their own hands. In the 43rd minute, Marta Sniezek ’15 battled for a ball on the far right corner of the field and found a streaking Nat Nigro ’16, who was able to slot the ball far post for the 1-1 tie. Two minutes later a Potomac defender brought down Niaa Jenkins-Johnston ’18 in the box and Emma Boyd ’15 converted the PK for the 2-1 lead. Nigro ’16 was not finished scoring yet, when in the 50th minute Sniezek ’15 dished a ball to her from 25 yards out and she hit a beautiful shot over the Panthers GK to make it 3-1. Sniezek ’16 continued to add to the score line when in the 65th minute she won a 50/50 ball inside the box and curled the ball far post for her first goal of the match. Potomac bounced back in the 70th minute and hit a shot that deflected off an Eagle defender and into the back of the net, for their second goal of the match. In the 73rd minute, Sniezek ’15 would finish her second goal of the match from Gabby Small ’15 to secure the 5-2 win.
