Ella D. '32, Annabelle P. '33, and Caroline J. '34 headed to the THEARC Theater in Washington for the DC Cluster Spelling Bee. They competed against about 45 4th to 8th Graders from various schools around DC. Ella got out in the 4th round, spelling 'signal', 'bayonet', and 'haphazard'. Caroline finished in the top 10 spellers, spelling 'nervous', 'receipts', 'mythical', and 'uvula' correctly. Annabelle spelled every word correctly ('miniature', 'squabble', 'vendetta', 'dissolution', 'besmirch', and 'nectarine'). She will compete in the DC City Bee on Saturday, March 14. The City Bee is the last stop before the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. Congratulations, and good luck!
