The works of more than two dozen student artists currently stand alongside those of legendary artists in the newly renovated headquarters of the international law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
The students and their parents were special guests at Steptoe's Jan. 24 opening gala for the new offices, just south of Dupont Circle. Their art was professionally installed on the building's second floor alongside other works in the Steptoe collection, including works from Romare Bearden, Vik Muniz, Ivan Navarro, Lalla Essaydi, Andy Warhol, Martha Boto, and others—a kaleidoscope of cultural styles that reflects the firm's global practice.
Like those works, the NCS works cover a cross section of styles and media, including painting, drawings, and photographs. Unlike them, though, these pieces are on temporary exhibition.
This was a thrilling opportunity for the artists and for NCS to have their work so recognized. All three divisions are represented, from Grades 6 through 12. Thanks are due to Steptoe's Pantelis Michalopoulos and Connie Mourtoupalas and to NCS Art Department Chair Amy Sinbondit for coordinating this opportunity.
