Cathedral Varsity Lacrosse came away with a close win yesterday against Sidwell Friends School. The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with goals coming from Abigail Summerville '15 (2), Lexy Manos '15 (1), and Honor Gabriel '17 (1) with an assist by Tess Schaberg '15. The Quakers fought back scoring three goals before the end of the half. The girls played methodical team defense, came up with several turnovers, and sent the ball up to our attack for two quick goals going into halftime. Both Tess Schaberg and Tessa Porter '16 punched in the last two goals before the break making the score 6-3. The Eagles played a lot of defense in the second half, but stymied much of their offensive threats. Freshman Ally Edge '18 had a standout performance down low often stopping the Quaker fast break. Both Ally Lorico '17 and Addy Wolf '17 anchored our defensive efforts working hard to get 50/50 balls and clear the ball upfield. The Cathedral attacking unit stayed patient and dictated the pace late in the game to hold on for the two goal win. Lexy Manos '15 ended the day with three goals.
