Mattoon in Attendance as Alumna Receives Stanford Engineering Award

Congratulations to Sydney Barta '22 on receiving the Terman Engineering Scholastic Award at Stanford University! The honor is presented to the top students of each year's undergraduate senior engineering class. As part of the celebration, Sydney was asked to invite an adult from her high school years to be present at the ceremony. She selected NCS Science teacher Ms. Ashley Mattoon who traveled to Stanford to attend a lunch celebrating Sydney. Please see this related article for more information about the event. Barta is studying bioengineering at Stanford and plans to become an orthopedic surgeon. She credits Mattoon with fostering her love of chemistry and changing the trajectory of her academic life.
