Cathedral Varsity Soccer Reigns Supreme on Homecoming
Senior Amelia Hannes '15 led the varsity soccer team to a win with two goals in the 2014 Homecoming match. Hannes '15 started the scoring early in the third minute when she slotted a ball near post, after a deflection fell to her feet for the 1-0 lead. The Eagles continued to put pressure on the Wilson back line and broke through for the second goal of the match in the 35th minute. Nat Nigro '16 used a bit of individual skill to get herself free before striking a ball from 18 yards out for the 2-0 lead.
The intensity of the match picked up in the second half as the Eagles continued to push forward. Nat Nigro '16 was involved in another goal as she slotted a nice ball to a wide open Marta Sniezek '15, who set herself up nicely and finished her shot for the 3-0 lead. Amelia Hannes '15 would strike again in the 75th minute of the match on a great cross from Marta Sniezek '15 for the final goal. Junior goalkeeper Erica Sanders '16 came up big on a few key plays to get her 4th shutout of the season.
NCS continues league play on September 23rd against Georgetown Visitation.
